The Velvet Kittens will be auditioning dancers for upcoming shows. We are auditioning for both ensemble dancers and professional dancers for the featured burlesque dancers. Please check here for more information regarding auditions.
ENSEMBLE DANCERS
We are currently looking for female dancers for chorus ensemble for the twice a month (Saturdays) at Rembrandt's Dutch Pub for June and July shows. Jazz, ballet, or some form of dance training required, but professional experience is not necessary. Minimum age to audition: 18.
BURLESQUE DANCERS
We are also looking for one - two professional female dancers who would like to audition for the positions of featured burlesque dancers in our Rembrandt shows.
Dancers must also be available for PR events/performances. Must be 18 years of age; provide a resume and references of professional work, and preferably currently continuing training. If you do not meet these qualifications but are still interested in becoming a burlesque Kitten, please begin by auditioning for chorus ensemble.

Dallas-Fort Worth's only weekly burlesque show, the Velvet Kittens' Sugar Moonlight Burlesque Revue, is every Thursday night at Hyena's Comedy Club in Dallas (located in Mockingbird Station, next door to the Angelica). Burlesque show starts immediately following the comedy show, at 10:30pm. $5 admission.

Thursday we'll be at Hyena's in Dallas (in Mockingbird Station, next door to the Angelica Theater) for our weekly burlesque revue show, Sugar Moonlight.
Sugar Moonlight is an original burlesque production incorporating the mystery, glamour, and nostalgia of the hip L.A. clubs on Sunset Blvd of the 60's and the magic of the classic showgirl dancers from the Rat Pack days of Vegas, featuring the Velvet Kittens and live jazz/blues music by the Shish Boom Band.
Show begins around 10:30pm (immediately following Hyena's early evening comedy show). $5 cover.

It's the weekend and there's no Velvet Kittens show in sight! What to do, what to do…

The entertaining and hilarious comedian JB Smooth from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" will be on stage tonight and tomorrow night at Hyena's Comedy Club in Dallas in Mockingbird Station. Go to hyenascomedynightclub.com for more details!
JB Smoove, currently starring as a series regular on HBO's “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, is a gifted writer, comedian and actor, who continues to entertain audiences all over the world with his unique brand of comedic funk. In September of 1999, he moved to Los Angeles and landed a recurring role on MTV's “The Lyricist Lounge Show”, as well as featured guest spots on “The Chris Rock Show” and “Premium Blend”. In June 2000, he landed his first big feature film role narrating and starring in the now cult classic “Pootie Tang” with actor/comedian Chris Rock. In March 2001, he paired up with Adam Sandler to co-star in “Mr. Deeds”. The collaboration between the two was so successful that Smoove signed a writing deal with both Revolution Studios and Happy Madison (Sandler’s production company) on the feature “Drivin' Down South” (working title). After an amazing yet short lived season as a cast member on Fox's "Cedric the Entertainer Presents" he moved back to New York City where he landed a writing position on NBC's Saturday Night Live. In the standup and acting worlds, Smoove has been featured on Comedy Central's “Tough Crowd”, Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza, SNL sketches, and a regular on “Late Night with Conan O'Brien”. Be sure to catch JB as the hilarious Leon in this season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, and as Manny on Fox's “Everybody Hates Chris”.

About Can't Stop The Serenity:
Between May and September 2009, fans of popular cult television and film writer/director Joss Whedon, will gather worldwide to raise money for “Equality Now,” a charity dedicated to promoting the human rights of beleaguered women and girls.
For the fourth year in a row, thousands of people
around the world will participate in "Can't Stop the Serenity" fund-raising events to benefit “Equality Now,” a charity organization working to protect the basic human rights of women and girls across the planet. Since 2006, more than a quarter of a million dollars has been raised and they plan to add another $150,000 in 2009.
Who is behind this phenomenon? It's not the product of any formal action network like Equality Now, a relief group or even a foundation. These humanitarians aren’t even a group of rich philanthropists or celebrities. They are simply the fans of a prematurely canceled sci-fi television series called “Firefly” and its climactic movie, “Serenity”. The volunteers who organize these charitable events, without prompting from the show's creators or Equality Now, have created a worldwide event that spans three continents.
This annual celebration of equality and Joss Whedon's birthday is known as “Can’t Stop the Serenity,” and the men and women behind it are simply known as “Browncoats” after the heroes of the show.
