The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque Present Candy Land: A Night of Sweets, a Vaudevillian Show Benefiting North Texas Children in Need
Dallas, Texas — December 17, 2007 — Although their salacious shows are for mature audiences, The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque hope to bring holiday cheer to some North Texas children this holiday season.
On Saturday, December 22 at 9 p.m., The Velvet Kittens will conduct a toy drive benefiting local children in need at their up-coming show, Candy Land: a Night of Sweets, at Café Rembrandt in Dallas, Texas. This full-length vaudevillian show will star The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque and feature singing, dancing and comedy from local artists.
The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque is the new troupe from the original choreographer of The Red Light Revue from Downtown Fort Worth. Consisting of stand-up comics and classically-trained dancers and singers, the troupe recreates vintage nightclub entertainment for a modern audience.
The Velvet Kittens have performed at The House of Blues Dallas, Obar, The Dallas Museum of Art, The Dallas Hub Theater, Hyena's Comedy Nightclub, 6th Lounge in Austin and other theaters and bars throughout the Dallas Forth Worth area. The Velvet Kittens also appeared on Big Dick Hunter's Wild Ass Circus for Live 105.3 FM at Café Rembrandt.
Hunter describes the Velvet Kittens as "in tune with the bygone era of cabaret," despite being "a collection of twenty-something bombshells born during the Reagan Administration." And as for their reception at Café Rembrandt, Hunter adds, "The voluminous applause and the rousing ovations that they receive [could] cause Ed Meese to weep."
