A Night of Sweets! features an all star cast of professional dancers, actors, singers, & comedians, and variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet, tap, burlesque, & cabaret.  This light-hearted, bawdy variety show is one holiday treat you don’t want to miss!  Guest performances by the Bombshell Dance Studio and Burlesque Body Sculpt ™ students.  Admission is one unwrapped toy, or $20.00 at the door. The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque will be presenting a full-length revue show at the Can’t Stop the Serenity music showcase!  The VK of LCB shows provide a cast of professional dancers, singers, and actors for an evening of comedy, dancing, and live “vintage nightclub” entertainment that’s unlike anything else in DFW!  We will also be featuring guest performances by both Dallas and Fort Worth Burlesque Body Sculpt™ student dancers.

About Can’t Stop the Serenity:

Between May and September thousands of people around the world will participate in “Can’t Stop the Serenity” fund-raising events to benefit “Equality Now,” a charity organization working to protect the basic human rights of women and girls across the planet.  The volunteers who organize the “Can’t Stop the Serenity” charity events are fans of the sci-fi television series called “Firefly” and its climatic movie, “Serenity.”  This annual celebration of equality and Joss Whedon’s birthday is known as “Can’t Stop the Serenity,” and the men and women behind it are simply known as “Browncoats” after the heroes of the show.

Equality Now was founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world.  Working with national human rights organizations and individual activists, Equality Now documents violence and discrimination against women and mobilized international action to support their efforts to stop these human rights abuses.

Through it’s Women’s Action Network of concerned groups and individuals around the world, Equality Now:

Fun Trivia!  The Burlesque Nutcracker (from MBS Production’s The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents:  A Bur-less-Q-Nutcracker) is based on the VK’s original Vaudevillian-Burlesque Nutcracker and stars it’s own Velvet Kitten cast.  This year the Burlesque Nutcracker will perform it’s 100^th show!   In fact, this Nutcracker performs more shows than any other version in DFW, and you will never look at the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy the same way again!

MBS Artistic Director Mark-Brian Sonna and VK Artistic Director Jana Edele are the choreographers behind the Burlesque Nutcracker and their work has been described as “ingenious, inspired and amusing. By turns graceful and bawdy, with just the right balance of edification and dance-hall shimmy.”

The Velvet Kitten dancers will be performing three varied numbers, from an intense stylized jazz piece (Smooth Criminal), a cabaret-style number choreographed to a treasured holiday classic (The Spanish Variation from the Nutcracker Suite), and one of our signature dances from our VK repertoire (Sugar Moonlight).  Our Burlesque Body Sculpt students will be performing a cabaret-burlesque style dance, Insatiable (featured on Good Morning Texas), and the debut of the latest BBS featured workshop, Spellbound.
