The Goldsat National Nutcracker Award (aka the “Nutty”) is an annual contest of Nutcracker productions in the nation.  Each nominated Nutcracker is chosen “for being one of the most beloved Nutcrackers in the country.”

The “Burlesque Nutcracker” is written by Mark-Brian Sonna, and choreographed by the Velvet Kittens’ very own artistic director/choreographer Jana Edele and Mark-Brian Sonna of MBS Productions, and features it’s own Velvet Kittens cast!

The Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque will be presenting a full-length revue show at the Can’t Stop the Serenity music showcase!  The VK of LCB shows provide a cast of professional dancers, singers, and actors for an evening of comedy, dancing, and live “vintage nightclub” entertainment that’s unlike anything else in DFW!  We will also be featuring guest performances by both Dallas and Fort Worth Burlesque Body Sculpt™ student dancers.

“Fedora Fever “

Wednesday nights, 7:00 – 8:00 pm

Includes July 6, 13, 20 and 27

Early registration rate:  $50.00 (plus tax)

“Fedora Fever” is all about class and style using the fashionable burlesque prop, the fedora hat. Set to the sultry and steamy blues song “Every Night,” trainer Jana Edele, artistic director and choreographer of the Velvet Kittens of Le Cabaret Burlesque, begins with a 30-minute stretching and toning warm-up followed by signature burlesque dance choreography focused on slow hip and shoulder isolations and sultry burlesque movement. Fedoras are provided, and students are welcome to bring their own.

“If Loving You is Wrong”

Saturdays, 12:00 – 1:00 pm

Includes July 9, 16, 23 and 30

Early registration rate: $50.00 (plus tax)

“If Loving You is Wrong” is from the Velvet Kittens repertoire, and a favorite among students.  Incorporating the dance props of bowler hat, cane, chair, tie and button up shirt, this is one sassy Burlesque Body Sculpt ™ dance you don’t want to miss!  Chairs, hats, and canes provided.

Level 1 – Beginner/Intermediate

One of our most popular BBS workshops!  Incorporates burlesque style choreography with the featured dance prop: the chair. Song:  Sinister Kid by the Black Keys

“The Hot Seat II”

Level 2 – Intermediate/Advanced

“The Hot Seat” – Level 2 workshop is from the Velvet Kittens repertoire. Originally choreographed by request for Island/Def Jam party for the release of the Killers newest CD.  Choreography is a cross of old school Vegas mixed with modern burlesque style and is set to “When You Were Young.”  This workshop incorporates both the feather boa and the popular dance prop, the chair.

(It is recommended that students be at an intermediate level, having taken at least 3 BBS workshops before taking this class or get approval from Jana)

About Can’t Stop the Serenity:

Between May and September thousands of people around the world will participate in “Can’t Stop the Serenity” fund-raising events to benefit “Equality Now,” a charity organization working to protect the basic human rights of women and girls across the planet.  The volunteers who organize the “Can’t Stop the Serenity” charity events are fans of the sci-fi television series called “Firefly” and its climatic movie, “Serenity.”  This annual celebration of equality and Joss Whedon’s birthday is known as “Can’t Stop the Serenity,” and the men and women behind it are simply known as “Browncoats” after the heroes of the show.

About Equality Now:

Equality Now was founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world.  Working with national human rights organizations and individual activists, Equality Now documents violence and discrimination against women and mobilized international action to support their efforts to stop these human rights abuses.

Through it’s Women’s Action Network of concerned groups and individuals around the world, Equality Now:

~Distributes information about human rights violations

~Takes action to protest these violations

~Brings public attention to human rights violations against women

The Bombshell Dance Studio, a dance-fitness and performance studio for adults, will be open for business beginning next week!  We will be offering a variety of dance workshops, drop-in classes, and discounted intro teaser classes.  So dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for the Bombshell experience!

(3 – week series; 75 – minute classes) 

“Fedora Fever” – 6:45 pm

This is a beginner/intermediate level class.  All students are welcome.  This is the original Fedora Fever choreography class that was offered last summer.

“Fedora Fab” – 8:00 pm

This is the new version of Fedora Fever for intermediate/advanced students.  It’s recommended that students be at an intermediate level, having taken at least 3 workshops before taking this class or get approval from BBS creator and instructor Jana.

1 workshop series:

$35.00 for Verandah members

$50.00 for non-members who register/pay by June 9

$65.00 for non-members after pre-registration (June 9)

Both classes (for intermediate/advanced students only):  $85.00
