About our shows:

Fort Worth Weekly states “North Texas’ most popular burlesque revue” (Anthony Mariani)

The Velvet Kittens are the best vintage nightclub entertainment act I’ve seen in Texas. This one-of-a-kind burlesque troupe brings a little bit of Las Vegas to the Lone Start State.” — Lyndsey Palmer, NWE

The Velvet Kittens are entertaining, professional, and sexy and truly remind me of the classic European burlesque acts in the tradition of the Moulin Rouge. Their show is very diverse, it consists of humor, great choreography, talented singers and it’s all performed in a very seducing manner. We always look forward to their shows and they bring in a great crowd!” — Ronny Smeink, owner Cafe Rembrandt

Dick Hunter from Big Dick Hunter’s Wild Ass Circus describes the Velvet Kittens as “in tune with the bygone era of cabaret,” despite being “a collection of twenty-something bombshells born during the Reagan Administration.” And as for their reception at Cafe Rembrandt, Hunter says, “The voluminous applause and the rousing ovations that they receive [could] cause Ed Meese to weep.”

ABOUT THE BURLESQUE NUTCRACKER

Annually MBS Productions presents The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents: A Bur-less-Q Nutcracker! This holiday treat was inspired by the Velvet Kittens, conceived/written by Mark-Brian Sonna, and choreographed by the Velvet Kittens choreographer Jana Edele and MBS Productions’ Mark-Brian Sonna. Find out what the press and critics have to say about their work:

“…the real treat here are the dances, choreographed by Sonna and Jana Edele.  The Velvet Kitten members are sexy and display classical ballet training.”

Mark Lowry, Theater Jones

“…clever choreography. Choreographer Mark-Brian Sonna and Jana Edele show where their true talents lie.  The blending of burlesque dance with the traditional Nutcracker ballet music is borderline genius.  Of course this would have been impossible to do without skilled dancers…MBS Productions have shunned tradition and has delivered a new holiday favorite all wrapped and tied up with a fishnet stocking.

Lyle Huchton, Associate Theater Critic for John Garcia’s THE COLUMN

“…talented, well-schooled dancers creating the burlesque bevy. And can they dance!!! The playing space is narrow; but the gals twirl, soar, leap, and boogie down in perfect cadence and rhythm without the slightest hesitancy. It’s an unforgettable send-up, as are Mark-Brian’s cheeky buns clad in snug lilac tights. Kudos to choreographer Jana Edele…

Alexandra Bonifield, Pegasus News

“The choreography by Mark-Brian Sonna and
Jana Edele, is ingenious, inspired and amusing. By turns graceful and bawdy, with just the right balance of edification and dance-hall shimmy.”

Christopher Soden, Edge Dallas
